SAN ANGELO, TX — A souped-up Chevy Camaro driver was minding his own business driving southbound on S. Bryant at around 2:45 p.m. when a Nissan Versa driver ruined his nice car and presumably his day.
According to San Angelo Police Traffic Investigator, Officer Cade Solsbery, the driver of the black Camaro was southbound on Bryant and a driver of a bright blue Nissan Versa was northbound. At the Ben Ficklin/Town & County intersection, the Versa driver attempted to make a U-turn on Bryant in front of oncoming traffic, including the Camaro.
The Versa, devoid of any regard for safety or common sense, plunged headlong into the path of oncoming vehicles, including the unsuspecting Camaro. With no left turn traffic light signal to warn of its treacherous intentions and a green light mocking the lawful southbound travelers, the Versa executed its fateful maneuver, sealing the Camaro's fate.
Solsbery dryly said, “During that U-turn, the crash happened.”
The police investigation so far placed the blame for the crash on the U-turning antics of the Versa driver. When we arrived, Home Motors was picking up the carnage left behind. The nice Camaro is underivable, as was the Versa with its airbags deployed.
Solsbery said he was likely going to give the Versa driver a citation at the end of the investigation.
