SANTA ANNA, TX — A crash on US Highway 67, just 4 miles east of Santa Anna, resulted in one fatality and one injury, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred at midnight on March 16, involving a 2011 Ford F250 and a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500.
The crash led to the death of 57-year-old Daniel Siller Jr. of Santa Anna and left 19-year-old Cooper Cash Jacobs, also from Santa Anna, with non-incapacitating injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Ford, driven by Jacobs, was heading west when the Dodge, operated by Siller, entered US 67 and was subsequently rear-ended by Jacobs' vehicle.
Siller, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to Coleman County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:28 a.m. by Dr. Paul Reynolds.
Jacobs, also wearing a seatbelt, was taken to the same medical center, where he is currently being treated for his injuries.
The posted speed limit on that section of US Highway 67 is 60 mph.
The conditions at the time of the crash were reported as cloudy, but the road was dry.
