US 87 at FM 2105 Claims Another Crash Victim

 

SAN ANGELO –  First responders from Grape Creek and San Angelo were dispatched to the notorious intersection of US Highway 87 N. and FM 2105 at approximately 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department and San Angelo Fire Department swiftly responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision.

Upon the arrival of the first responders, a silver passenger car was discovered on the northbound lane of US Highway 87 N, while a silver SUV was located in the median area between the highway and the service road. One individual, a victim of the crash, was promptly transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment.

This intersection has gained infamy over the past four years, witnessing over 40 major vehicle crashes resulting in injuries. Additionally, there have been numerous incidents involving collisions with no reported injuries. This alarming pattern has cemented the intersection's reputation as one of the most perilous crossroads in Tom Green County.

Local authorities are under increasing pressure to address the safety concerns surrounding this intersection, with calls for enhanced measures to prevent further accidents and injuries.

Maybe the state should put an overpass at that intersection similar to the one in Grape Creek where they were having the same retarded issue. People not stopping for oncoming traffic traveling at highway speeds. One could assume that no amount of deaths is call enough for an overpass with the way the intersection stands currently.
