Big Rig Carrying Gasoline Crash Shuts Down Interstate

ROSCOE, TX — An 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 20 has led to the closure of both east and westbound lanes at mileposts 237 to 239 Friday morning.

According to the Texas Dept. of Public Safety, the crash involved an overturned truck tractor tanker semi-trailer, carrying hazardous material identified as gasoline.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is actively investigating the situation that unfolded around 12:30 a.m. overnight.

The truck, operated by Pulido Transport LLC, was en route westward when it lost control and overturned into the center median at mile marker 238.

According to DPS, the driver of the truck escaped without reported injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for examination.

However, the tanker sustained damage to its top-loading hatch during the collision, leading to a limited spill of gasoline.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have closed the affected stretch of I-20, diverting traffic onto the service roads until the overturned tanker can be safely removed, and the area cleaned.

Environmental agencies have been notified and are actively overseeing the cleanup efforts.

The spilled gasoline is being addressed to prevent any environmental impact. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible, in order to minimize travel delays.

Travelers navigating through the impacted zone should anticipate traffic slowdowns due to the ongoing cleanup and concurrent roadway construction.

Emergency vehicles, as well as traffic control personnel, will be present to guide motorists through the area.

Authorities are advising heightened caution in the vicinity and encourage travelers to stay informed about the closure, allowing for alternative routes to be considered.

Regular updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
