Firefighters Thwart Disaster

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Fire Department was dispatched to handle a small fire in a residential neighborhood on Monday evening. At around 7 p.m., firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to a call that a house in the 900 block of Witchita Avenue had caught fire.

Police scanners reported that the fire caught on the side of the residence, and people feared that it might spread to the rest of the house. Scanners also indicated that the building had to be evacuated before emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

Smoke filled the street, but reporters could not see any active flames in the neighborhood as firefighters arrived. No injuries were apparent, and the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. Emergency services left soon after the fire was out.
