Car Slams Into Child on a Bike

SAN ANGELO, TX — A child was hit by a car in North San Angelo Thursday evening.

According to San Angelo Police Department Officer Jonathan Welch, on September 14, 2023, at around 5:15 p.m., he and other officers were called to the 1700 block of Catalina Dr. for the report of a major crash between a car and a pedestrian.

Once on the scene, the crew discovered a Pontiac Grand Am that had struck a boy riding a bicycle. Paramedics took the boy to the hospital. At this time, it doesn't look like the injuries are life-threatening.

However, Officer Welch did say the boy's legs may have been injured. Ironically, nearby the crash scene was a yellow warning sign declaring "Kids at Play."

This far into the investigation, Welch does not believe the driver will be cited, as the child rode into the street.
