WATCH: Pickup Destroys Gas Meter When Driver has Seizure

SAN ANGELO – Emergency responders had their hands full with a ruptured gas meter and a crash in front of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center on University Ave. Monday after a driver had a seizure, left the roadway and crashed.

According to San Angelo Police Dept. Traffic Division Investigating Officer Welch, the driver of a white Chevrolet pickup apparently had a seizure that may have called the crash.

See video from the crash scene below:

Officer Welch said the driver's parents confirmed he had a history of seizures.

Offices called in Atmos Energy workers to shut off the gas which was spewing from the destroyed meter.

Crews got the gas turned off without incident.  There was no fire and no one else was injured.

Officer Welch says they do not issue citations for crashes caused by medical issues.
