DPS: 2 Fled Scene After Saturday's Head-On Crash on US 67 South

SAN ANGELO, TX — The crash on US 67 South on Saturday night happened when one pickup was traveling in the lane of the oncoming traffic. That resulted in a head-on collision between two pickups.

San Angelo LIVE! Has confirmed what we saw at the scene: a drone flying around the area and a K9 unit. DPS said both were dispatched from the San Angelo Police Department. DPS said the driver and passenger of the truck traveling in the oncoming traffic fled the scene on foot.

The drone and K9 were used to attempt to find the fugitives for about an hour and a half following the crash to no success.

DPS said there were no major injuries miraculously. Of course, DPS does not know the condition of the two who fled on foot, but both apparently were able to walk or run fast enough to evade detection.

DPS uses an advanced drone with capabilities similar to a Forward-Looking Infrared camera for nighttime operations.

The crash happened Saturday night, July 16, just before midnight and the crash scene investigation and manhunt for the two fugitives lasted until well after 2 a.m. on early Sunday morning. The roadways were dry and the speed limit is 75 mph on that stretch of roadway.
