Popular Andrews ISD Ag Teacher Killed in Midland Crash

MIDLAND – An Andrews Ag teacher was killed in a car crash Thursday on Highway 80 outside of Midland.

On June 16, at about 3:40 p.m., an investigation revealed a truck tractor was stopped on Highway 80 blocking westbound traffic in both lanes.

A Red Ford Bronco, being driven by 25-year-old Stephanie Stokes, was traveling westbound on Highway 80, tried to avoid a crash but struck the backend of the truck. Stokes was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. The truck driver was treated for injuries and was released by EMS.

Stokes was in her first-year teaching at Andrews ISD, and they will have counselors available for anyone who needs one

Andrews ISD released a statement on Twitter saying:

Andrews ISD is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Stephanie Stokes. We are so thankful for her dedication to the students and FFA program at Andrews High School. We share our condolence with the Stokes family, friends and all who knew and loved Stephanie.

Last year, Andrews had another tragedy where the Andrews band bus was in a head on crash with a Ford F-350. The bus crash killed 3 people and injured 13.
