SAN ANGELO – The driver of an SUV with a handicapped placard was involved in a major crash on Thursday afternoon.
According to Officer Long with the San Angelo Police Department, on May 5 at around 2:15 p.m., officers with the SAPD, along with fire and EMS, were dispatched to the intersection of W. Avenue N and Austin St. for the report of a major crash.
When the crew arrived, they discovered a grey Chevy Equinox and a White Chevy Silverado that had crashed in the middle of the intersection. Check out a video of the scene below.
The investigation from the officers revealed that the Silverado was headed east on Avenue N and was attempting to turn left onto Austin. The Silverado allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to the Equinox, which was traveling west on Avenue N.
No major injuries were reported. The driver of the Silverado was cited for failure to yield.
According to reporters on scene the Equinox had a handicapped placard hanging from the window.
The scene was cleared by 3 p.m.
