Update: Car Goes Up In Flames After Rolling Across The Interstate

 

BAIRD – The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed a one-vehicle crash claimed the life of the driver on Tuesday afternoon.

According to DPS, at approximately 2:30 p.m. troopers were dispatched to I-20, near mile marker 313.

Upon arriving at the scene, troopers located a vehicle that rolled over and caught fire. The driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

The victim will not be publically identified until next of kin is notified and the crash remains under investigation.

BAIRD, TX –– Authorities have released new details in the fiery crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old female.

According to DPS, Sydney M. Bright was speeding on the left lane of I-20 with 24-year-old Thomas Huffman traveling close behind in a 2015 Ford Mustang.

When Huffman moved into the right lane, Bright partially entered the center median and lost control of the vehicle.

Bright then overcorrected and crossed the westbound lanes of IH-20 and went into the North barrow ditch.

The Charger then went into the left side and began to roll –– eventually crossing onto the access road and striking a tree.

As a result of the impact, the Charger became fully engulfed in flames.

Bright, who is from Arlington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Department of Public Safety has issued the following correction regarding this fatal crash:

The Dodge Charger was traveling West on IH-20 at a high rate of speed in the left lane.  For unknown reasons, the Charger veered partway into the center median, where the driver lost control. Bright then overcorrected to the right, crossing the westbound lanes of IH-20 and into the North barrow ditch.  The charger then went into a left-side skid and began rolling over.  It crossed the North access road, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames upon impact.  The crash is under investigation.
