SAPD: Young Driver Critical After Horrific Houston-Harte Crash

SAN ANGELO, TX – The San Angelo Police Department has released the following statement on the major vehicle accident on Houston Harte this morning:

On August 10, 2021, at 10:48 am, an on-duty San Angelo Police Department detective drove up on a major motor vehicle accident at 1500 block of W Houston Harte Expy Eastbound.

TXDOT was doing maintenance on some signs, so traffic was moving slowly.  A silver Subaru SUV crashed into the rear of a trailer, which was being towed by a Semi-truck.

The driver of the Subaru, Jonathan Fortenberry (23), was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.  Fortenberry suffered from incapacitating injuries.

Fortenberry had been wearing a seatbelt.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
