SAN ANGELO, TX – Several minor crashes and a few major crashes occur on a regular basis at the intersection of Harris Ave. and Koenigheim in downtown San Angelo since the traffic signal was taken out during a crash.
The intersection is currently controlled by temporary stop signs.
Apparently, drivers are having a difficult time navigating the intersection with the stop signs in place because there were a number of crashes there Saturday.
Saturday evening around 5:30 a blue Ford Focus and a white GMC 2500 pickup were at the intersection.
The focus was northbound on Koenigheim while the GMC was eastbound on Harris.
Watch video from the crash scene:
San Angelo Police Department Traffic Division investigating officer Swanson at the scene said the drive of the GMC entered the intersection illegally and caused the crash. He will be issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
No one was seriously injured or taken to the hospital this time.
Until the traffic signal is restored at this intersection, expect more crashes.
