Toddler Dies From Injuries Suffered From Rollover Crash on U.S. 67

SAN ANGELO, TX - Shortly after 2 p.m., emergency responders dispatched to a major rollover crash involving a white pickup truck on US 67 N. As a result of injuries sustained in this crash, DPS confirmed at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday evening that the 1-year-old female passenger died.  She was pronounced by Justice of the Peace Werner at Shannon Medical Center.  

Here is the story as it happened Wednesday afternoon:

Currently, LIVE! is on scene, and two children and one female have been transported to the hospital. At least one child went to the hospital via Shannon AirMed 1. 

DPS is investigating the scene, and traffic on the northbound side is at a complete stop.

Update at 4:20 p.m.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. this afternoon, DPS troopers dispatched to a rollover crash on US 67, just north of Harriett Rd. 

Sgt. Justin Baker said the driver of the white Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on US 67. The vehicle was occupied by a mother and her two children, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl.

"The vehicle, for unknown reasons, drove into the southbound lane of traffic, overcorrected back to the right, and rolled across northbound traffic, and came to rest on the right bar ditch on the right side of the roadway," Baker said.

Both mother and children were transported to Shannon Medical Center. The 3-year-old boy went via ambulance, and the 1-year-old girl was transported via AirMed 1.

Sgt. Baker said, "During the investigation, it was determined the vehicle did have two child safety seats, although it doesn't appear as though the child safety seats were properly installed, or the children were not properly installed at the time. Both children were ejected during the crash."

The children are in critical condition, said Sgt. Baker.

DPS, Texas State Highway Patrol, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and Quail Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. The crash is still under investigation.

Update 7:20 p.m.

As a result of the injuries sustained during the crash, it has been confirmed that the 1-year-old female passenger has passed away. She was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Werner at Shannon Medical Center. No further information is available at this time.
