“I was just sitting at the end of the bar with patrons when someone just hit it,” said Alisa Piteo, who manages the VFW bar. She ran outside to see what happened and saw the damage to the building. “I hollered at him and said a few cuss words. Then I got the information for the cops as he drove away.”
At around 5:45 p.m., a vehicle smashed into the VFW Hall and then drove away.
Damaged inside the VFW hall is the trophy room where memorabilia from World War II and the Vietnam War is on display, and according to Piteo, it was a man driving a dark grey Dodge Dakota.
Piteo said the pickup’s window on the passenger side is smashed out, and she provided the identification information for the San Angelo Police who are on the lookout for the hit-and-run driver.
