Man Survives Rollover, Then is Killed When Freightliner Plows Into His Crashed Pickup

An Odessa man survived a rollover crash in his Ford F-150 only to be killed when a semi truck plowed into him before he could exit his pickup.

According to the Texas DPS, Mark Arthur Tenniswood, 49, of Odessa was westbound on Interstate 10, about 11 miles east of Junction, when he lost control of his 2003 Ford F-150. His truck struck the guardrail and went into a right-hand rollover.

The Ford came to rest facing south, but positioned across the road, laying on its right side.  Tenniswood was not injured from the rollover.

Before Tenniswood could remove himself from the wrecked pickup, however, a driver of a 2013 Freightliner truck tractor pulling a semi-trailer also traveling westbound failed to see the truck wrecked and situated across the road in front of him. The Freightliner struck the center of the pickup, ejecting the pickup’s driver and killing him.

Tenniswood was pronounced dead on the scene by a Kimble County JP Judge Peggy Ragsdale.

The approximate location of the crash:

DPS identified the driver of the Freightliner as Donnie Graig Fussell, 35, of Davie. He was injured in the collision.

DPS reported that the roadway was wet and it was raining when the crash happened. It was also dark. The crash is reported to have happened at 7:32 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016.
