At approximately 7:20 p.m. last night, San Angelo LIVE! reported on a high-speed crash in the 3400 block of Arden Road involving two vehicles, a 1992 Dodge Diesel pickup and a 1992 Honda Accord. San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the area, and due to the severity of the collision, the driver of the Honda had to be extricated. Four people were transported to Shannon Medical Center with various injuries.
Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez with SAPD, provided an update this afternoon, and said the driver of the Honda Accord, 28-year-old Adrian Hernandez, underwent emergency surgery at Shannon, but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 12:38 a.m. The Honda’s passenger, 27-year-old Aaron Nitsch of San Angelo, was treated for non-incapacitating injuries and later released.
The driver of the Dodge pickup, a 15-year-old male juvenile, along with his 16-year-old male juvenile passenger, were also treated for various injuries and later released. The names of the juveniles are not being released at this time.
Gonzalez said investigators with the Department’s Traffic Section and Criminal Investigations Division were called to assist with the investigation. They determined the Honda was in the process of entering onto Arden Road from Oxford Street when the Dodge, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, collided with the Honda’s driver-side door.
Traffic Investigators returned to the crash scene this morning to conduct a follow-up investigation. The area of Arden Road between Mockingbird Lane and Robin Hood Trail was closed to oncoming traffic for several hours.
This is an ongoing investigation and charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
