Four People Injured in High-Speed Collision on Arden Road

Update 8:50 p.m.

Sgt. Cade Solsbery, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said at 7:20 p.m., officers received a call for a major crash with injuries involving two vehicles and an entrapped individual in the 3400 block of Arden Road. Previously, it was reported that three vehicles were involved.

"When officers arrived and the Fire Department arrived [on scene], they were able to get everybody out of the vehicles," Solsbery said.

Solsbery explained that the driver of a 1998 tan Honda Accord on Oxford about to turn westbound on Arden Road collided with the driver of a tan 1992 Dodge 2500 Diesel traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicles collided in the intersection of Oxford and Arden.

Solsbery stated there were two occupants in each vehicle, and all four of the involved parties were transported by medics to Shannon Medical Center for their injuries. The driver of the Honda had to be extracted from the vehicle.

"I don't know the extent of those injuries, or what their condition is currently," said Solsbery.

He did say, however, that there were varying forms of injuries, and some were worse than others.

Solsbery added that he will not be releasing any of the names of those involved in the crash pending the outcome of the investigation, and until they get a status update on their condition at the hospital.

The PIO did say he believes there were two males in the pickup and a male and female in the Honda, but he still has to confirm that information.

Solsbery noted that alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor in this crash, but based on witness testimony, the driver of the pickup was traveling well above the posted speed limit. He did not have the exact speed as of yet.

Officer Ed Hunger and Sgt. Dornhecker with the SAPD Traffic Division are on scene investigating the crash, and Detective Kelly Lejoie is assisting with witness statements.

"They're going to investigate the crash and get witness statements, and hopefully we'll get updates on the conditions from the hospital," Solsbery said. "We'll determine the outcome of where the investigation goes from there."
