Crashes Happen When People Fail to Yield the Right of Way

This is the week of crashes on Loop 306, but a crash today had nothing to do with the setting sun.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Palmer with the San Angelo Police Department said the driver of a 2010 Cadillac was stopped at the yield sign in the 4200 block of West Houston Harte Expressway to give the right of way to those drivers exiting the Loop. However, the driver of a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee behind the Cadillac failed to stop and crashed into the vehicle.

Palmer said there were no major injuries as a result of the crash, but the driver of the Jeep complained of back pain. That driver will receive a citation for failure to control speed.

I've been driving in San Angelo most of my adult life and can say without any question that the majority of drivers in this county do not know the meaning of a yield sign. This is one of the most nerve racking towns to drive in and it's beyond me as to why this is as the rules of the road are the same for Tom Green County as for any other place in this country and to my knowledge none of these laws have changed nor have been altered in any way.
