Officer John Palmer with SAPD stated the driver of the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Ave. J while the driver of the pickup had turned from Abe St. onto Ave. J; he was preparing to make a left turn into the parking lot at Pinkie’s Liquor Store. Because the pickup failed to yield the right of way making that turn, the motorcycle crashed into the pickup.

“[The driver of the Ford] was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way making a left turn,” Palmer confirmed.

Palmer explained that in this scenario, vehicles going straight have the right of way, and a driver is entering their path of the roadway when making a left turn.

Palmer added that the motorcycle driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center. Officials reported the man had lacerations on his face and fingers, possibly from the motorcycle’s windshield that shattered in the crash. Palmer also stated the man was not wearing a helmet. The man driving the pickup reported no injuries.

That's the older gentleman I see all the time in Supercenter and HEB. He's super nice and rides that bike everywhere. I hope he's okay.
