Two passengers were sent to Shannon this evening with non-life-threatening injuries after the driver of a Toyota Tundra disregarded a red light on Jefferson and Caddo Streets and crashed into a small sedan, said a San Angelo Police Department official.
According to the official, the driver of a red Dodge Neon was traveling southbound on Jefferson St. while the driver of a red Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on the access road. Both a witness and the driver of the Neon said the southbound light was green. The driver of the Tundra, however, said he didn’t know if he had a green light or not. He said he was looking in his rearview mirror and lost sight of it. As a result, he struck the Neon.
The two injured passengers were in the Neon and got transported by ambulance to Shannon.
The officer said the driver of the Tundra will be cited for disregarding a red light. The crash remains under investigation.
