Vehicle Shears Off Light Pole, Plummets into Red Arroyo

A man driving a pickup east on Sherwood Way this morning lost control and crashed into the Red Arroyo.

San Angelo Police Traffic Investigator Ed Hunger was dispatched to the scene at 11:15 a.m., where he determined that the driver had been stopped at the traffic light at Sunset and Sherwood Way, and after traveling through the intersection, attempted to switch lanes to abruptly and lost control on a wet patch of pavement. The vehicle then spun and hit a light pole, shearing it off before plummeting into the Red Arroyo.

The man was not injured in the crash; however, he was cited for failure to control speed.
