Big Spring Man Dies in Three Vehicle Crash Near Midland

 

A Big Spring man was killed in a fatal three-vehicle crash six miles west of Midland on SH-349 just after noon on July 17.

According to the Texas DPS, the deceased was eastbound on County Road 60 in a Chevrolet Impala and entered the SH-349 intersection just as a Midland woman driving a 2015 Chevrolet 2500 pickup was headed southbound on SH-349. At the same time, a Midland man was northbound traveling through the same intersection in a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup.

The Chevy 2500 pickup struck the Impala, and then the Impala struck the Dodge Ram. All of the vehicles came to a rest in the east barrow ditch of SH-349.

Midland County Justice of the Peace Joe Matlock declared the Impala driver dead. He was identified as Jody Wayne Swinney, 52, of Big Spring. The Chevy 2500 driver was injured. She was identified as 29-year-old Stephanie Lyn Marie Langford of Midland. The Dodge Ram driver was also injured. He was identified as Jonathan Shepherd, 56, of Midland.

DPS reported that the road conditions were dry and the skies were clear. The crash happened at 12:25 p.m. July 17, DPS reported.
