Passenger Who Was Extracted with Jaws of Life Dies

The male victim of this morning's crash who was extracted from the passenger seat with Jaws of Life has died at Shannon Medical Center, San Angelo police reported.

Hospital staff pronounced 80-year-old Lloyd Argabright dead at 11:56 a.m. The driver of the Jeep, 71-year-old Nancy Argabright remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Police reported that the couple was traveling through San Angelo from their home in Del Rio, and on their way to a family reunion in Kansas.

Crash Investigators at the scene reported the Argabrights’ 2014 Jeep Patriot was headed eastbound on Grand Canal at the intersection with U.S. 277 when the driver disregarded a yield sign and drove into the path of a northbound 2011 Lexus on the major thoroughfare in south San Angelo.

The Lexus collided with the Jeep’s front passenger area, which caused the Jeep to go into a skid and roll one time before it came to rest upright on its wheels next to the highway.

Police report that next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the Lexus, a 50-year-old Christoval woman, sustained minor injuries, was transported to the hospital, and has since been released.

At the scene, police said that the initial investigation indicated that the driver of the Jeep was at fault for failing to yield the right-of-way.
