Chevy Truck and a Ford Ranger in Major Crash Downtown

 

One person was loaded on a stretcher and into an ambulance arfter an evening crash at the intersection of West Beauregard Avenue and Abe Street in downtown San Angelo. The crash occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m.

The westbound lanes of Beauregard were blocked and two southbound lanes on Abe Street are too.

Involved in the crash were a black Chevrolet 2500 crewcab pickup and an early model Ford Ranger. The Ranger is seen a good distance away from the Chevy truck.

The San Angelo police and Fire Department, along with EMS crews tended to the scene.

Update 9:02 p.m.

The Chevy was headed south on Abe Street. The Ranger was headed west. However, two civilian witnesses have told us two different stories. The direction each vehicle was headed is the only information both witnesses agreed upon.

Update 9:34 p.m.

San Angelo Police Officer De La Cruz was the investigating officer. According to the investigation, the Chevy was headed south on Abe and ran a red light. The Ford Ranger was traveling westbound on Beauregard at the same time and the Chevy crashed into the Ford. The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Chevy was shaken up, but in good shape otherwise. Police gave the Chevy driver a citation for running a red light. De La Cruz said that there were three witnesses.
