Starting things off with the big schools and the Little Southwest Conference. The Central Bobcats lost to the Midland Legacy Rebels 56-29. Frenship lost to the Permian Panthers in crazy fashion 42-41 and Midland beat the Odessa Bronchos 41-31. There are not undefeated team in this district and Midland Legacy, Permian, Frenship, and San Angelo Central are all 2-1 in district. Midland is 1-2 and Odessa is 0-3.
Current District Standing:
- Midland Legacy (4-4, 2-1)
- Permian (7-1, 2-1)
- Frenship (6-2, 2-1)
- San Angelo Central (5-3, 2-1)
- Midland (5-2, 1-2)
- Odessa (3-5, 0-3)
The Bobcat’s schedule doesn’t get easier from this point as they play Permian next week and Frenship in the regular season finale. By far two of the better teams in the district so the Bobcats will have to play up to their ability in each of those games. The Tigers have Odessa next week then Central. Frenship has been playing incredibly well and have an offense that can score from anywhere.
Permian has Central next week then finish up against Midland. The Panthers have shown amazing resolve and have comeback to beat some very good teams. Midland Legacy is playing Midland and Odessa. The Rebels had an up-and-down pre-district showing but have turned it on after losing to Frenship in the district opener.
The Midland Bulldogs stay close to home and have Legacy next week then Permian the week after. Midland has shown the ability to hang around. Against Central, they lost 28-25, lost to Frenship 42-28, and won by 10 against Odessa in Week 9. The Bronchos have Frenship next week then finish the regular season against Legacy. Both Midland and Odessa have to really play well to try and grab the fourth spot in the playoffs.
4A-1 District 2 Region 1
The Lake View Chiefs lost to the Big Spring Steers 21-7 and now the Chiefs are really behind the 8-ball. Lake View is in a five-team district, so the playoffs weren’t a guarantee. Brownwood is perfect in district and are looking at getting a gold ball in a couple weeks. The Lions played Lubbock Estacado and won 52-14. Andrews is the other team in the district and were idle this past week.
Current District Standings:
- Brownwood (7-2, 3-0)
- Andrews (5-2, 1-1)
- Big Spring (5-2, 1-1)
- Lubbock Estacado (4-4, 1-1)
- Lake View (3-6, 0-3)
Lake View has their bye week coming up in Week 10. They’ll finish their regular season against Lubbock Estacado. Anything can happen but the odds aren’t in the Chiefs favor. Brownwood finishes their season in Week 10 against Andrews and will have their bye in Week 11 before the playoffs.
The Andrews Mustangs will play Brownwood in Week 10 then Big Spring in the regular season finale. The Big Spring Steers still have to play Lubbock Estacado and Andrews. The Estacado Matadors finish up with Big Spring and Lake View.
