The Wall Hawks and Mason Punchers Battle in Clayton Weishuhn Stadium Friday Night

WALL – The Wall Hawks are coming off a bye week and have a battle on their hands against the Mason Punchers at Clayton Weishuhn Stadium in Wall Friday night.

Wall’s most recent win was against the Peaster Greyhounds where the Hawks traveled to the other side of Weatherford for the matchup. The Punchers are coming off a few beat downs where they’ve left the Ozona Lions, Christoval Cougars, and Ballinger Bearcats in their destructive wake, beating each team by an average of 43 points.

Against Ballinger, Puncher quarterback Ivan Wofford went 9-12 for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Ryne Todd, Isaiah Bishop, and Matthew King had 149, 123, and 90 yards respectively and combined for six touchdowns. Receiver Brody Comey had three big catches that went for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Wofford has two interceptions and Landon Jentsch, Cason Jacoby, Tino Montellano, and Juan Oliver each were credited with half a sack for a total of two.

Overall, Mason had 51 plays for a total of 618 yards. 39 of those plays were rushing plays that accounted for 439 yards while Mason had 179 passing yards.

The Hawks did what they do and ran up and down the Greyhounds. One of Wall’s team leaders, Nathan Pepper had 23 carries for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Gunner Dillard ran for 66 yards and a touchdown and Jayden Sellers went took seven carries for 27 yards and a score.

Defensively, Justin Allen and Dylan Gidney had one and two sacks respectively and Pepper had an interception.

This game isn’t going to last very long. Over the last three games against Ballinger, Christoval, and Ozona, the Punchers have averaged 323.7 rushing yards and the Hawks have averaged 192 rushing yards against Cisco, Jim Ned, and Peaster. Both teams like to run the ball, but Mason has had decent success when throwing the ball and averaged 125 yards over those games.
