The Wall ISD football field will be named after Wall High School graduate and local legend, Clayton Weishuhn, in a dedication ceremony on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Clayton was a standout football player at Wall High School from 1974 to 1977. After graduation, he went on to play college football for Angelo State University where he was a 2-time All-American linebacker and member of the Rams 1978 NAIA National Championship team. He was later inducted into the Lone Star Conference Hall of Fame.

In 1982, Clayton was drafted by the New England Patriots. He played 6 seasons in the NFL, 5 with New England and 1 with the Green Bay Packers. While at New England, he was selected NFL Rookie of the Year. In his second year in the league, he set the New England Patriots’ single season record for tackles with 229, a record which still stands today.

On September 9, 2022, the Wall Hawks will square off against the Jim Ned Indians at 7:30 p.m. in Wall.
