Allen ISD Eagles Hire New Head Football Coach with San Angelo Ties

 

ALLEN – Allen ISD has hired a new head football coach who started his career in San Angelo.

Lee Wiginton, formerly the head coach at Midlothian Heritage, has been hired to lead the Allen Eagles.

Wiginton graduated from Lampasas High School in 1989 and attended Angelo State where he played and coached football. He then began his coaching career at Edison Junior High, now Central Freshman Campus, in 1993 then to Lampasas in 1994.

Along the way he coached basketball, track, powerlifting, baseball, and football.

In 2000, Wiginton led Bosqueville High School as their Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Wiginton coached the Bulldogs to their first ever playoff berth. After 4 seasons, Wiginton coached at Comfort in the same position, then to Mexia.

In 2010, Wiginton went to Midlothian ISD then moved to Midlothian Heritage in 2015 when the school opened up.

In 6 seasons, 60-17 and took Midlothian Heritage to the 4A Division 1 Regional finals, and 2 consecutive semifinal appearances. His career record is 157-89.

Former Allen coach Chad Morris left the program and looked look at college coaching again. Morris' record was  11-3 with the Eagles. In Week 2, Allen lost for the first time in 84-games against Atascocita 41-20.
