SAN ANGELO, TX -- If you haven't noticed Texas high school football is kind of a big deal. State of the art football stadiums are going up across the state that could rival most universities.
In fact, Prosper ISD located in the Dallas Metroplex just completed a new stadium to the tune of $48 million.
In addition to some of the biggest stages being architectured for high school football programs across Texas, we're beginning to see more platforms dedicated to the coverage of the game.
Right here in West Texas #COVER1 is bringing San Angelo and the Concho Valley just that. The show was created in 2018 to let high school football shine through cinematic highlights, in-depth postgame reaction, and even commentary that serves up an opinion about the game and what fans can look forward to about their team moving forward.
But ultimately #COVER1 is taking a page from the schools of thought such as NFL Films and shows like NBC's Sunday Night Football to create a platform for Texas high school football that brings a unique flavor to the table.
In year two of the show Dallas hip-hop artist D'Marcus Malone was brought back to collaborate with the San Angelo Lake View High School Drumline for the show's weekly intro and music video titled, "This Is West Texas."
"It was amazing. The kids were so receiving and amazing," said Malone.

D'Marcus Malone who goes by D Malone has been a hip-hop artist and poet since the age of 9. As a graduate of Duncanville High School in the Dallas Metroplex, D Malone understands what high school football not only means to inner-city Texas but to the folks in West Texas.
"It's a blessing to inspire kids through my rhymes and my music, but more importantly to represent what they've got going on."
D Malone and #COVER1 represent a brand of coverage that West Texas or for that matter the entire State of Texas has yet to experience. Like the show's coverage, D Malone's writing and music are unique which can be found in the lyrics of the song, "This is West Texas."
"Music means everything to me, it's the connection to what's quote on quote lost in today's time. All you have to do is push play to get away."
With the start of theTexas high school football season two weeks away you can catch D Malone and the San Angelo Lake View High School Drumline weekly in the start of each #COVER1 show. #COVER1's coverage begins on Thursday, August 29th when the Wall Hawks visit the Mason Punchers down in the Hill Country.
