VIDEO: Five Rescued from Flooded Truck in Northeast Tom Green County

SAN ANGELO, TX — A water rescue operation led by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday saved five individuals, including a 3-year-old child, from a flooded area near McMillan and Wright Road.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies arrived on the scene after receiving a report of a vehicle swept away by strong currents. They found three men, one woman, and the young child clinging to a tree about 150 yards from the road. The group’s truck was submerged, and one of the men panicked during the rescue, causing difficulties for the responding deputy.

Additional personnel, including the San Angelo Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety, were called to assist.

Utilizing water rescue equipment, all five individuals and three first responders were safely extracted from the water.

"The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize and thank the San Angelo Fire Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety for their efforts," the sheriff's office stated.
