Monico was appointed District Clerk in February 2020 to replace longtime District Clerk Sheri Woodfin; He was elected to the office in November 2022. District Clerks serve four-year terms in Texas.
Monico told Commissioners in a prepared statement that he began working for the County in 2006 and considers his co-workers family. Monico said he had to resign to be closer to family in San Antonio as a family member is experiencing major health issues.
Monico's resignation is effective May 1, 2024. According to Tom Green County Judge Lane Carter, District Judges Ben Woodward, Jay Weatherby, Carmen Dusek and Brad Goodwin are working to appoint an interim replacement by May 1.
