Commissioners Approve Sale of Vehicle Registration Renewal Stickers at H-E-B
SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday approved a plan to allow the sale of vehicle registration renewal stickers at the original H-E-B.
Tom Green County Tax Assessor-Collector Becky Robles and H-E-B San Angelo Area Unit Director Lynn Shipley presented the Memorandum Of Understanding to the court. H-E-B will serve as an agent of the Tax Assessor-Collection office, "for the limited purpose of sales of motor vehicle registration renewal stickers."
Currently, motorists have two options to get a renewal sticker in person; go stand in line on the first floor of the Keyes building downtown or use the drive through lane next to the Court Street Annex. Motorists can also mail in the renewal request with a copy of auto insurance and a copy of a current vehicle inspection.
Pct. 3 County Commissioner Rick Bacon, who presided at the regular weekly court meeting Tuesday morning, said any opportunity to reduce the workload and the wait time in the Tax Assessor's office would be welcomed.
Shipley and Robles told the court that H-E-B employees will use their equipment and there will be little or no cost to the county.
The Commissioners Court unanimously approved the MOU which allows for vehicle registration renewal at the original H-E-B at 3301 Sherwood Way.
In other business, commissioners approved requesting an extension or budget amendment for the Office of the Governor County Essential Services Grant to help cover expenses for six remaining Capital Murder cases pending trial. The request would extend the grant which helps pay for the cost of conducting Capital Murder trials to Dec. 2020.
