Commissioners to Accept Grant Funding for Sheriff’s Office Prior to Tax Rate Hearing

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Tom Green County Commissioners on Tuesday are set to accept grants for the Sheriff’s Office and solicit bids for work on the new jail site before holding the first of two public hearings on the proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2018.

The Court will consider three grants from the Office of the Attorney General for the Sheriff’s Office; one for the Crisis Intervention Unit for $42,000  and two for the Victim Coordinator and Liaison Unit for $42,000 each.

Commissioners will also consider the 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $6,958.

The Court will also consider an interlocal agreement with the City of San Angelo for grant funding for sewer line improvements for the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of the Concho Valley’s Journey Recovery Center project.

Tom Green County Commissioners meet in regular session at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on the second floor of the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave.

Following the regular meeting, Commissioners will hold the first of two public hearings on the proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2018.  

The tax rate hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
