Commissioner’s to Vote on Tax Rate and Set Salaries for Elected Officials

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Commissioners have completed a series of budget hearings and are set to vote on the tax rate for fiscal year 2018 on Tuesday.

The County’s current total tax rate is .5125 per $100 in property value.  According to the agenda, if the proposed rate for FY18 will exceed the rollback rate or the effective tax rate, whichever is lower, the court will take a record vote and schedule public hearings on the tax rate.

Commissioners will vote on elected officials salaries and all other compensation for the next fiscal year as well.  Last month, the court voted unanimously to publish a maximum salary increase of two percent for elected officials.

Also on the agenda is approving a special warranty deed for 2.07 acres of land for a new station for the Christoval Volunteer Fire Department, adding an attorney position to the District Attorney’s office and new guidelines for indigent health care.

The Tom Green County Commissioner’s court meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning in the court room on the second floor of the Edd B. Keyes building at 113 W. Beauregard.
