Blown Transformer Ignites Field in Water Valley

 

At approximately 12:30 p.m., there was a report of a fire on Spring Road and Concho Valley, just south of Water Valley.

Water Valley Volunteer Firefighters are on scene, but officials have closed down northbound traffic on US 87 due to smoke obstructing the roadway.

Please avoid the area at this time.

Update

J.C. Schovajsa, fire chief with the Water Valley Volunteer Department, said that the fire was caused by a blown transformer.

Over an acre of land was burned.
