Large Grass Fire Closes March Road in Grape Creek

Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department are fighting a grass fire north of San Angelo in an open field.

The Tom Green County Sheriff has closed March Road near the Wren Road intersection east of U.S. 87 due to low visibility and to facilitate the movement of firefighters and equipment.

Since this is a developing story, and the volunteer firefighters are all deployed, no information has been released about the cause or size of the fire.

Visibility is reported to be zero at some places down March Rd.

A burn ban is not in effect for Tom Green County until the beginning of next week.
