Woman Jailed on Seven Counts of Issuing Bad Checks Sunday

 

Twenty-three inmates were booked into the county jail on Sunday, among them a woman booked on seven counts of issuing a bad check in various quantities. In addition to the bad checks, the woman was also charged with theft by check, was indicted on theft >/= $20 < $100k, and was charged with failure to appear and two warrants. 

The 41-year-old female, Michelle Burgess, has a history in Tom Green County of theft and fraud dating back to 1991 that includes charges of forgery, tampering with a government document, and fraud use or possession of identifying info. 

Public intoxication and assault comprised the second highest number of offenses at five apiece, followed by two additional theft, two possession and two DWI. One individual was booked on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

Sixteen inmates were released on Sunday.
