Rain and Flooding Across San Angelo Saturday Night

Weather is causing problems all over San Angelo as of 8 p.m. Saturday. There is a major crash on the Houston-Harte abeam the 1000 block of Caddo. From what we could see, it involved a black Camaro. The crash happened as the sun set upon a fog- and rain-occluded landscape with driving rains happening across San Angelo.

On Main Street at a low water crossing, the first water rescue of the storm was happening at approximately 8 p.m.

Visibility from high atop the San Angelo LIVE! corporate offices downtown was less than ¾ miles with blowing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory. They say heavy rainfall from Grape Creek to east of Wall along U.S. 87. They said ¼ to ½ inch of rain, to as much as an inch of rain will fall.

Update 9:45 p.m.

The rain has subsided and it appears that all is mostly clear. The NWS flash flood warning expired at 9:45 p.m. and NWS has not issued a new one. The biggest excitment during the rains other than above was:

• The railroad crossing at Chadbourne St. and 5th St. was flashing, but the train was no where to be found. Motorists were seen backing up and not crossing the intersection. The visibility was sketchy.
• The Zero One Ale House downtown lost their DirecTV signal and switched to cable. They couldn't find the SEC Network. Aggies in the bar were stuck watching the University of Texas lose to BYU.
• The Central High School football team and band arrived safely at Central High after their win at AT&T (Cowboy's) Stadium in Arlington. Parents picked them up while catching a glimpse of the Concho River rising, but not rising too much.
