The only rights you have are the ones you are willing to fight for. During WWII the Japanese Fascists where reluctant to try a land invasion of the USA mainland because they knew American citizens where well armed. The first step in creating a modern totalitarian state is to disarm the people.

Until you intend to use it, please keep it in your pants. The only reason for this march is to titilate the participants by confusing and alarming the public, and giving the cops a headache to deal with. Sincerely, A concealed handgun license holder, hunter, and freedom lover.

Bill Richardson, the reason the Japanese did not land in LA is not because of an armed population. It was because they didn't have a navy that could get them here. They were too busy getting harrassed by Admiral Nimitz.

Further, an armed population with single-shot AR-15s is no match for Obama's Bureau of Land Management or the other 100 or so alphabet soup agencies that have billions of rounds of ammo and a couple of M1A1 Abrams tanks left over from Iraq.

I'm not sure what an armed carry demonstration proves to the government.

In the first sentence of this press release... could the SAPD please tell us where to find the "Open Carry Law in the State of Texas" within the Texas legislative codes? At least the rights (not laws!) are more accurately described toward the end in the info provided by the gun dorks.

Good question. We'll find out. Over at The Dallas Morning News, they reported that there is no right to openly carry handguns.

"The meeting comes less than a week after a shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left four dead, including the gunman. The massacre renewed calls among gun activists to loosen laws stopping Texans from openly carrying handguns. Current law requires, in most cases, that handguns be concealed and those carrying them to be licensed."

Mr. Hyde you should make an attempt to learn American history and world history. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto - “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.”

Joe, the point I was making is this: There is no "Open Carry Law" in the State of Texas that gives someone the right to openly carry long guns such as rifles or shotguns. There are only laws that prohibit the open carry of certain weapons (handguns). The SAPD should know this. They were just asleep when they wrote the press release is all. Even though I think its silly what they are going to do tomorrow, these people do have the right to openly carry their long guns, but that RIGHT isn't provided by Statute. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.46.htm#46.02 The section of the press release language in the content provided by the group to SAPD is more accurate than the part of the press release SAPD wrote themseves. The SAPD wrongly identified a Statute that does not exist. What next, the "Breathe Oxygen Law in the State of Texas?"

We redirected some of our editorial to try to explain your point for this morning's lead story. Thanks for the input because it was valuable. http://sanangelolive.com/news/county/2014-04-26/local-group-declares-open-carry-efficient-deterrent-crime
