DPS Arrests 77-Year-Old Man for Child Pornography and Online Solicitation of a Minor

On Wednesday night, March 26, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) executed a search warrant at the residence of John Edward Sullivan, located at 516 South Jefferson in San Angelo.  Sullivan, age 77,  was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography, both third-degree felonies.  Additional charges against Sullivan are possible.  

The search was a result of a seven-month investigation by the DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID), which began in August 2013 with a complaint of obscene phone calls to the San Angelo Girl Scouts of America office.  The investigation ultimately identified Sullivan as the primary suspect.  He was also established as the primary suspect in other phone calls, during which he allegedly discussed sex with juveniles.

The search resulted in the seizure of multiple items of child pornography, and one child victim has been identified. Additional inappropriate photographs of unidentified children were also seized, and DPS is working to identify those victims. Also seized were multiple video cassettes, CDs, two computers and miscellaneous records and documentation.  The computers are undergoing additional examination.

The San Angelo Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations assisted DPS CID with the investigation.

so, where's the love for this criminal? shouldn't we pray for him, as we have been instructed to pray for the one who pointed guns at people, smashed up a store with a hammer and charged a policeman? If we pray for that one, we pray for this one, right, Jesus's children?

If we pray for the Walmart guy, we pray for all. That's not being sarcastic. It is following what all those praying for Mr Welborn insisted was right, according to Jesus. Where are those who let God be the judge, while they love all the damaged and the criminal amongst us? Seriously, where are the prayers for this man's family?

Get a grip. Were you at WalMart when it happened? You seem to be more traumatized than any one. I am praying for you to feel safe again. You have had enough attention now, please let it go.

I am NOT trolling. I am reminding those bleeding hearts that they are hypocrites for praying for SOME criminals and not others. Maybe this perp lost a spouse or child, that made him do wrong. He deserves whatever the Walmart guy did. Or are you doing earthly judgments????

Nina, let a man terrorize shoppers and employees at Walmart and threaten police officers...well surely he just needed a shoulder to cry on, or the "Lord's" love. But if this man decided to forgo violence in place of making off color comments/phone calls to underage girls...well he needs to be burned at the stake Even the most cold hearted killers in the pen are under the delusion of being better than the sucker who landed himself behind bars for dating a girl short of her 18th birthday.

If we must embrace one damaged person, we must embrace them all, it so Jesus teaches. Because the Walmart terrorizer "looked like a nice man" and "loved his children", he's excused. I'm betting that those in that store with their children, and a madman pointing even an unloaded gun at them, would see it differently. Again: I have friends with PTSD because of what they went through that day. Stop apologizing for a man who couldn't manage to live and set an example for the children he fathered who were still on earth. Still praying for the officer who was forced to handle that.

God's sake, Nina... PTSD because they were in a "combat zone" in Wal Mart eh? STFU! You're so #$(*&#$ pathetic it's not even funny. The difference - is that the Wal Mart criminal was only out to hurt himself. He went in there, intending to get himself in such severe trouble that the cops would come, and then he'd continue pretending to be a threat until they shot and killed him. Suicide by cop. Yes, there were people in the store... YES, it was a scary ordeal. But all those who lived can easily look back and say "oh, I get it now. I was never in danger, he just wanted to die. This idiot - while in need of prayers, as well... is disgusting. He DOES intend to do harm to others, others who are definitely young and innocent. HUGE difference.
