SAPD Officer Ed Smith Retires After 22 Years

 

On Dec. 31, Officer Ed Smith will be retiring to begin another career. Officer Smith joined the San Angelo Police Department on June 12, 1991. He was promoted to Police Officer 3 on June 12, 1999. Officer Smith spent his entire career on patrol. Officer Smith had approximately 2,162 hours of police training and held a Master Officer License.

Officer Smith became a Field Training Officer while assigned to patrol & then later became a Police Training Officer where he trained many young officers prior to them being assigned to patrol on their own.

Officer Smith was also a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team.

Officer Smith opted not to have a retirement ceremony.
