A Rodeo Superstar Family is coming to San Angelo for the Cinch Roping Fiesta.
Brothers, Clif, Clint and Tuf Cooper are on the tie-down roping roster for the Fiesta this weekend.
The site tufenufcooper.com, gives a little insight into what fans should expect at the Fiesta, “their father is 8-time World Champion Roy Cooper, their brother-in-law is 15-Time World Champion Trevor Brazile, and their uncle is World Champion Tie-Down Roper Stran Smith.”
Tuf, Clif and Clint became the first set of three brothers to qualify for the Wrangler NFR tie-down roping in 2010, and all three are still going strong.
Tuf Cooper, the youngest at 23, won the world title in 2011, and broke the record for youngest cowboy to break the $1 million mark, a feat that was achieved in February at the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo.
Clif Cooper, age 25, is consistently in the top 20 of the world standings, and has won various rodeos across the country.
Clint, the eldest at 29, has been in the circuits since 2002 and is consistently one of the top ropers in world standings, as well as the winner of a fair share of rodeos across the country.
All three are favorites at San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, as well as the Cinch Roping Fiesta.
“Tuf has yet to win the crown in the Invitational Roping, but got close last year, finishing second in the average to #2 man going into the Finals this year- Tyson Durfey,” states the SASSRA Facebook page.
Should Durfey win, he will be the third cowboy to win it back to back.
The top ten winners of the Cinch Roping Fiesta will qualify for the semifinals in Mesquite for RFD-TV’s “The American” the world’s richest one day rodeo.
As for the Fiesta, Clint has already expressed excitement to be back in San Angleo;
“@SASSRARodeo: @ClintCooper7 Are you ready for the @CinchJeans #RopingFiesta? #60yrsstrong” 4 sure -- see y'all next Saturday
