County Commissioners Approve Letter of Support for Shannon Purchase of Community

SAN ANGELO, TX – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday approved a letter of support for the Certificate of Public Advantage to Shannon West Texas Memorial Hospital for the purchase of San Angelo Community Medical Center.

As we reported earlier, on April 20 Shannon West Texas Memorial Hospital signed an agreement to acquire the assets of San Angelo Community Medical Center from subsidiaries of Nashville-based Community Health Systems, Inc. (CHS), advancing its commitment to preserve and expand access to high-quality, community-based healthcare for west Texans.

During the process of seeking regulatory approval, Shannon Medical Center and San Angelo Community Medical Center will continue to operate as separate and independent organizations.

In other business Commissioners approved an application for a CARES ACT Coronavirus Relief Fund Grant for $213,466 to assist the county and the City of San Angelo with COVID-19 related expenditures.

The court also approved a plan to follow the Catastrophic Payroll Policy for paying Sheriff Law Enforcement working to enforce closing county owned parks on their regular days off.

Commissioners also lifted the burn ban effective immediately.
