WASHINGTON, DC-- The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has recalled over 91,000 lbs of Turkey.
According to the USDA, a batch of turkey tested on Sept. 11 came back positive for Salmonella.
Unfortunately many of the Jennie O turkey products that were made that day were already shipped out.
The Centers for Disease Control reported that there were 74 cases of Salmonella and one death from raw turkey products last week according to FOX 8.
The breakout started in Nov. 2017 and since then 164 people in 35 states have reported getting sick.
It’s unclear where the turkey at the center of this outbreak came from, as there doesn’t appear to be one centralized distributor.
This could mean that “it might be widespread in the turkey industry,” according to the CDC.
Fever, diarrhea and stomach cramps, are usual symptoms of Salmonella and they usually last four to seven days.
Most people recover with needing medical attention, but the infection can cause death if a patient is not treated promptly with antibiotics.
The CDC reminds people that if you plan to handle raw turkey, make sure you follow these tips: Wash your hands after touching it. Cook products thoroughly to avoid getting sick and thaw turkeys in the refrigerator not on the counter.

you may have to eat your burger with real beef for a few days.
You do know that ALL of the bird is ground up in this slop.
Try some good ol Owens or Jimmy Deans pork sausage for breakfast instead of trying to burn that crap until you can eat it.
Do not put this mess on a burger or for Gods sake in chili.
