SAN ANGELO, TX - Yesterday evening at City Councilwoman Charlotte Farmer's town hall meeting, attendees learned San Angelo will be getting a new H-E-B. The company's Real Estate Division confirmed a new H-E-B location will be going up on Sherwood Way.
Farmer said the H-E-B store will be built across the street from Lowe's, next to the Chick-fil-A. The store will run in front of Drexel, and Hunter's Glen will be the side street. Roadwork is currently taking place in that area.
Farmer noted that H-E-B will keep the store at Arden and Sherwood. She also said there will be another town hall meeting with H-E-B the first week of December.

thank goodness. I love HEB but you really have to plan your shopping trips to the current store. There are just too many zombie-d old people and trashy hillbillies with heathen kids who don't comprehend that the store is packed 90% of the time and they can't just stop in the middle of an aisle to talk on their phones or whatever when there are 100 other people behind them just trying to move past.

PermalinkYay! Maybe when we get a new HEB all the people that have started shopping at Market Street will go there! I have shopped at Albertsons for years but have stopped shopping there because it's just as crazy as HEB now!

PermalinkThis is a true statement! I said the exact same words once it changed.......I'm hoping the new HEB will draw that crowd that "just wants what's new"

PermalinkI'm not only old and zombied , I'm also one of those deplorable basket people that were so out of style before about 3:00AM this morning. I say good riddance to you and your attitude. Why not leave now and go sit at the construction site so you can be first through the door when they get it built.

PermalinkWay to go Ms. Farmer! Massage this release of information so that it is released by you! Kudos to you for securing this new location for the HEB Store! Wait! Did HEB consult with you before releasing the info regarding the new HEB location? Tell me more, tell me more!

PermalinkPlease continue to bring your biased views to the City Council (Counsel, as some will spell it) meetings. You don't do anything that might be considered self serving, do you? I did like the Council Meetings when Liz Grindstaff was still a Council Person; yes, I know she was not and is not in your district. I do think we should redraw the district lines and include her in your District, then encourage her to run opposing you. I think we were getting more high dollar bang for our bucks with Liz!

PermalinkI'm pretty sure HEB didn't ask Charlotte Farmer's permission or opinion on building the new HEB.
HEB has been looking for land to build for several years now. If you're mad about HEB building there take it up with the HEB management.
Charlotte Farmer was passing along information about new construction in her district. Don't get mad at the messenger.

PermalinkInformation about the new HEB is old news. It was reported in SAST on 10/15 that HEB was going to build a 91,000 square foot building. Partially as a result of the new construction there would be road work in the area that might last through the end of the year. This road work will include a raised median running from Loop 306 to FM 2288 and installation of new signal at the turn into Walmart. Paste following link to see the roadwork.

The $3,808,303 bid on the road construction was awarded by TxDoT to Reece Albert in July. No idea when HEB purchased the property or applied for a permit but most likely the purchase came months ago.
It would seem Ms. Farmer was just holding a public meeting to discuss an issue that impacts not only her constituents but also the entire city. I did not attend the meeting but do not see how any political motivation on her part should be attributed to her. Seems that informing the public is a good thing.
