Christine “Chris” Moya, 92, of San Angelo, TX, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 9th. She was born on February 22, 1932, in Dallas, TX, to Gladys and Charlie Haworth. Her unwavering faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, and she was a dedicated servant of the Lord, always seeking to reflect His love in all she did.
Chris married the love of her life, Joe Moya, on September 16, 1947, and they were blessed with 71 years of marriage. Together, they raised five children, instilling in them the importance of faith, love, and family. Joe preceded her in death in 2018, and now they are joyfully reunited in the presence of God.
Chris began her career at Madye’s as a designer, later working for RG Barry’s of San Angelo before finding her professional home at Ethicon, where she retired after many years of dedicated service. Beyond her work, she was a woman of many talents, with a passion for physical fitness and fashion. She was known for her elegance, always sporting a stylish hat and a bright smile.
Her family was the heart of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She loved deeply, prayed fervently, and left a legacy of love and devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The memorial service and viewing will be held on Friday, September 20th at 6:00 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home; funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21st, at 10:00 AM. The family would like to thank Dr. Hunt, Dr. Cheruku, Dr. Duarte, Hospice of San Angelo, and her caregivers, Stephanie and Daisy, for their compassionate care.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Harley Chrane, Bryan Moya, Collin Moya, Doyle Bailey, Ira Kerby, Eddie Cuellar Jr. and Noel Moya (honorary).
Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Moya; her mother, Gladys Kilgore; her father, Charlie Hayworth; her brother, James Hayworth; her sister, Mildred Jayme; and her daughter, Carolyn Moya Kerby.
She is survived by her children, Danny Jayme, Glenda and spouse Doyle Bailey, Joe K. Moya and spouse Sharon, and Michael Moya and spouse Amelia. Her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Chrane, Andrea Myers, Amanda Kerby, Valeri Kerby, Mallory Moya, Bryan Moya, Collin Moya, Michael Bynum, and Tiffany Jayme, as well as her great-grandchildren, Harley Chrane, Ashley Hogeda, Dakota Myers, Sterling Myers, Phoenix Jergens, Tristin Bynum, Braden Thorton, Berkley Thorton, Quere Rainwater, and Quiah Rainwater, and great-great-grandchildren, Liam Hogeda and Londyn Hogeda. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Chris’s life was a testimony of faith, love, and dedication to God and her family. She will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
