Debra (Debbie) Hurley passed away in her home on August 14th. She was born on June 20, 1956 (age 68) in Seminole Texas. She was adopted at birth by Elmer and Naomi Hurley and older sister Sharon. They lived in Andrews Texas for six years. Elmer married Janet (Holcombe) with her three children, Jerry Don, Donnah and Melodie and moved to Bronte Texas. Debbie went to Bronte High School and graduated in 1976. She went to college in Sweetwater (TSTC). She moved to San Angelo and worked for Mitsubishi company. Debbie ventured out of Texas and moved to Michigan for a few years. Her roots called her back to Bronte and worked for Wackenhut Prison Center. She remained in Bronte up to her death. Bronte and the community were very important to her. She knew everyone and if she didn’t know you, she would quickly make you a lifelong friend. Her hobbies consisted of photograph, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and Genealogy. Through the genealogy, she was able to connect with some of her biological family. This was something she longed for a very long time. Family was very important to her. Debbie was everyone’s greatest supporter. Her pride and joy were her two fur babies, Toby and Brody. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them; they were her world. Debbie attended the Methodist church. She was proud to be a follower of Christ. We will miss her terribly, but we know we will see her again. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents: Janet and Elmer Hurley, mother Naomi Allen and niece Amy Morgan. She is survived by her sister Sharon Epperson (Rex) of Blackwell Texas, brother Jerry Don Holcombe of Chandler Texas, Donnah Payne (Charles) of Mansfield Texas and Melodie Neeley (Ron) of Kemp Texas. Debbie had Six nieces, Three nephews, Five great nieces, Nine great nephews and Three great great nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sep. 7th at 2:00 at the First United Methodist Church, 324 S Washington St. Bronte Texas 76933.
