Richard “Dee” Burrage gained his wings on March 7th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 9th, 1954, to Richard Burrage and Barbara Byrd Burrage in San Angelo, TX. After graduating from Lake View High School in 1973, he went on to study Agriculture at Angelo State University. He retired from Yellowhouse Machinery in 2022 and was highly regarded for his unwavering work ethic and support. He was dearly loved and known by all his coworkers and customers as “Snuffy”.
Dee was an expert mechanic and enjoyed “tinkering” with anything he could get his hands on. He enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, Dirt bike racing and was an excellent marksman. He was a firm believer of the Bill of Rights, especially the First and Second Amendment. He was deeply proud to call Texas his home and country. Anyone who knew Dee knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.
Richard was predeceased by his father Richard Burrage, grandparents, Curtis Wynn Bird, Grace Sue Byrd, and Marie Rogers.
He will be dearly missed by his mother Barbara Byrd Burrage and Randy Russell, mother-in-law Janice Burrage, wife Vicki Lee Burrage, daughter Melissa Jones and Hunter Jones, Daughter Brendi and Carlos Willis, Daughter Rayna Adkins, granddaughters, Landrie Jones and Raylee Franklin, Cousins Susie Johnson, Kim Gust, and siblings. Special friends Kenneth and Juanice McLaurin, work daughters Krystal (99) Halmark, Chasity Titus, Marvin Watkins, Tim Baird, Bruce Gully, Dusty Lilly, Dena Malone, Dan and Teri Jones, Mike and Delena Freeman, Cita Moreno.
Our special thanks and gratitude to Dr. Justin Jones who was a God send to us in this journey. Also, a big thanks to Dr. Cheruku who is amazing along with all the nurses and staff at the cancer center.
We will have a celebration of Dee’s life in May. Please reach out to close family and friends for details.
