Gloria Currie Moore, 96, of San Angelo passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, in Round Rock.
She was born in San Angelo on February 25, 1927, to Mary Barr and William Frank Currie. She attended school in San Angelo and was a cheerleader for San Angelo High School before graduation in 1944. She attended Southern Methodist University (SMU), where she met and married Ronald McWilliams. He was in the service, and they lived in several places, including Detroit, Biloxi, Houston, and England. Gloria and Ron had four children together, James Ronald (Jimmy), Mary Michael (Mickey), Currie Harris, and Shannon Mark. They added one special daughter, who they all fell in love with while they were stationed in England, Shirley Griffin.
Gloria owned a costume and novelty shop in San Angelo, but she also worked at Sax Fifth Avenue in Houston and West Palm Beach, FL. While living in Freeport, Grand Bahama with her second husband, John Moore, they owned a motorcycle rental business before they moved back home to San Angelo.
She is survived by her children, Mickey Adams and husband Bill of San Angelo, Shannon McWilliams and wife Ricky of Questa, NM, Shirley Harris and husband John of Bella Vista, AK; 9 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 2-4 PM. A graveside service has been scheduled for 3:00 PM, Monday, February 26, 2024, at Fairmont Cemetery.
